Certificate Course in Geriatric Care

Aastha has recognized the need of trained caregivers for Sr. Citizens and since 2015 conducting the Geriatric Care Course to create a team of the trained caregivers for old age people. This certificate course is designed by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai and being conducted in association with Savitribai Phule Mahila Ekatm Samaj Mandal as Implementing Partner.

The course is conducted at Dr. Hedgewar Rugnalaya by renowned and experience doctors. Duration of course is 4 months With 1 Months Thory And 3 months practical. Visit to other Old Age home for study and experience. The course is free. Till date 12 batches are conducted and about 150 trained caregivers are available for old age people.

Subjects under the course

  1. Geriatric Communication, Counselling and Guidance.
  2. Basic Geriatric Care
  3. Geriatric Rehabilitation.
  4. Issues and Concepts in Gerontology.

Two batches are taken in a year. Each batch costs approximately two and a half lakhs. All students are awarded a certificate by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences after completing the course. The aim is to serve the elderly people with a sense of service and not just for financial gain.

So far 12 batches of this course have been conducted and 145 trained students are available to serve the elderly
